Hands on Radio Parts Kit
A kit of parts is available for all the experiments in N0AX's new book
"Hands on Radio" The cost is $80 plus s/h, and the kit will be
available at Dayton. I will post a list of the parts included and a
description when I get
back from Dayton next week. Also next week I will be re-doing the web page so
that the links to the rest of the page show up again. Right now none of
the links to the rest of the web site show up.

The IQPro and PICEL II are now available from AA0ZZ. Craig has done a run of each kit and will be selling them direct while I am still working on recovery. Order info is available by by clicking on the IQPro and PICEL II link. Craig is not set up to take Credit cards, so credit card orders will need to come to me and I will forward the shipping info to Craig. I can take MC or VISA orders via e-mail or telephone (send me an e-mail if you leave a phone message - I am way behind on voice mail!)
I am making slow progress on flood recovery. The basement (where Kanga was located) has been empty and clean for quite some time. Foundation damage has been repaired. New studs are up for walls, and some insulation is in place. I hope to have the new drywall up in the next few weeks. Then I can finally start rebuilding workbenches and setting up my shop again. The whole process is taking much lonfger than I thought it would!
August 27, 2007 - Kanga US will be closed for an undetermined length of time.
Findlay Ohio was hit by massive flooding about a week ago. We were one of the lucky ones - we only had water up to the ceiling in the basement. Others lost a lot more. All the Kanga US equipment and inventory (except the DK9SQ masts - they were in the garage) has been lost. We have spent the past three days just emptying the rubble from our basement, and probably have another two days to go just to get everything out. The we will have to tear out the walls and ceiling and begin the cleanup and repair. I have no idea how long that will take. After that is done I will be able to accept orders for masts only, and I will have to decide what to do about the future of Kanga US. If anyone has submitted an order or is waiting on a shipment, I will have to provide a refund - there is just nothing available to ship. It will be at least three weeks before I will be able to take care of any issues..... Click on the thumbnail to see what the Kanga US shop looked like when I got home three days ago.
See the Important Shipping Info Notice below!
PICEL II Update below
Kanga US will be closed from June 15 thru Sept 10 - look for me on 20/40 cw from our Sailboat on Lake Superior!
June 14 - Kanga US is now closed - no more orders please til Sept 10 - See below
Welcome to the new Kanga US Web Page. As in the past, it is not fancy, so it will load fairly quickly on slow dial-up connections. Any large files will have their own separate links so you can control the download time. The website was completely re-done, so if you notice any problems, please drop me an e-mail at kanga@woh.rr.com and let me know!
Several things happened the past several months that prompted me to bring up a new site. The main reason is that I am switching ISP's. After over a year of trying to get a high speed connection from the provider I have had for over ten years, I have given up and have switched to another provider. At the same time, I set up an account on QTH.COM where I will have much more web space and better support than I was getting from my old provider. Finally, I have introduced several new products this year, and more are in the pipeline, so it seemed like a good time to make the switch!
Hopefully you will find the pages easy to navigate and can find the items you are looking for. In addition to being the "catalog" for Kanga US, I am also providing web space for notes and comments by some of the folks who have designed products that I produce. That way they can use their personal web space for whatever they choose, and Kanga US can keep their notes/updates/whatever on-line for the life of the related product. There is also a space for any of you to show off the Kanga US products you have built. Send me a file and I will get it out there!
I intend to add more photos and documents in the coming weeks and months. Let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to see on the site. It is much easier for me to add and update with the new internet connection I have to QTH.COM!
Announcements:
06/14/2007 - I got a huge load off to the Post Office the past couple of days. I should be caught up with all the outstanding orders, but I am sure there will be a few I missed. If you phoned something in and left a voice mail, it probably did not get out - I am WAY behind on voice mails. It also appears that PayPal orders sometimes did not get to me via e-mail. The record is there on PayPal, so if you did not get something ordered via PayPal we will have to sort it out when I get home in September. Have a good summer!
06/09/2007 - The 40 pin ZIF's arrived. All the back ordered 40 pin adaptors are packed and will be a the Post Office Monday morning. The next round of PICEL2's is being packed, and will begin shipping Monday. If you want one this summer - get you order in quickly! I am running out of hours before I go sailing! ;>)
06/04/2007 - I am home from the Rochester Hamfest. and I am working my way thru the e-mails Voice mails will be listened to sometime in the next 24 hours or so. The PC boards for the PICEL II will arrive tomorrow, and I will pick up the LCDs on Thursday or Friday. That means I will be shipping a lot of PICEL IIs on Monday. Nothing has been shipped since before Dayton (May 16), so if you ordered anything in that time frame it is not yet lost in the mail!
05/31/2007 - I am leaving for the Rochester NY hamfest in a few minutes. I will be back in Ohio on Tuesday evening June 5, so June 6 I will be packing kits and shipping orders that have been arriving the past week. All the parts for the next run of PICEL II's are due to arrive while I am away. Wednesday June 6 is also the day I will also be catching up on all the un-answered e-mails and voice mails!
05/24/2007 - I am again out of PICEL II kits! There was quite a run on them at Dayton, and the orders did not stop coming in at home while I was there! I will do my best to get another run of 100 done before I close down for the summer.
05/23/2007 - Postage rates were raised just prior to the Dayton Hamvention. International rates were also changed, and the Rate Structure was also changed. The bottom line is that it has suddenly become very expensive to ship many of my products that I used to be able to ship under a flat rate. Effective immediately I will charge the actual cost of shipping for all international orders.
05/09/2007 - I have started shipping PICEL II kits again. Most of the back orders have been shipped, so if you have one on back order - it should appear in your mailbox in a few days. Check out the GCR2 Pro that AA3SJ has constructed! It uses the IQPro, miniR2 and the UQRP TX MKII.
04/20/2007 - The article on the PICEL II has been published in QST, and I am already out of stock. I expect to be shipping again in about two weeks.
03/10/07 - I am out of microT2 PC boards. More are on order, and I expect them here in the next two weeks.
02/20/07 - I finally got the last of the outstanding microT2 orders filled today. I now have a (small) stock of microR2 and microT2 kits so I can ship from inventory. I am also now able to ship the Tormet Engineering DDS VFO model DDSv4. I have put some info about the DDSv4 on my site. I hope to get a photo or two out there later today or tomorrow along with more info about the unit
02/04/07 - The microT2 Transmitter is ready to go as soon as I get the documentation printed. I should get the first batch to the Post Office Monday Feb. 5
01/12/2007 - The Parts Layout was left out of the documentation for the most recent batch of microR2's that were shipped. Click here for a PDF version of the PC board layout.
01/10/2007 - I am now caught up on the microR2 shipments. I shipped out two large batches today and yesterday, so if you have one on order and it does not show up in the next 3 - 4 days, let me know via e-mail and I will track it down for you. The last few pieces of the microT2 are on the way here, and I should have them in hand within the week, so microT2 shipping is getting close! In the meantime I will be packing IQPro's and Spectrum Analyzer kits - I ran out of them both while I was catching up on the microR2!
