Hands-On Radio is a collection of the first 61
experiments from Ward Silver's (N0AX) Hands-On Radio column in QST. The
experiments cover everything from Electronic fundamentals to Workshop and Design
Techniques. The main sections in the Table of Contents are:
- Fundamentals
- Semiconductor Basics
- Building Block Circuitry
- Power Supplies
- Filters
- Oscillators and Buffers
- Transmission Lines and Impedance Matching
- Workshop and Design Techniques
- Parts List
The
parts included
in the Kanga Parts kit are the ones listed in the parts list in the book (less
things like string, glue, wood, etc). All the electronic parts you need to do
all the experiments are included in the book. You will need to supply something
to build them on like a scrap of copper clad board or a solderless breadboard (I
have some available for an additional $10 ea). and any tools and test gear you
want to use while doing the experiments. This is the same parts kit sold by the
ARRL (I supply this kit to them for re-sale)
There is a web site where you can get the latest info on
updates to the book, additional experiments, FAQ, etc.
